For our second issue, HCd expanded the patterns we started with our first issue. In general, styles were tightened down and typographic details were added. For this issue as well, we decided that the visual theme was "texture", and so areas of flat color were avoided. In their place were scans of texture, floral embellishments or generated gradients. In addition to the 129 pages of content, HCd also designed about 80 percent of the 67 pages of ads for vendors. Love Stories were prominent this year as well, and we tightened down that design as well with smaller headlines and a tighter photo grid.
